Hi!
I know we've never met, but I know you (virtually) from afar, and after finding this post through a FB link, I felt compelled to comment. I remember my own similar moment when I was finally ready to re-commit myself to writing a book after having a baby. And all those weeks and months when I wasn't quite there, I found myself searching to read about other writers who had gone through this. So, my pregnant and post-partum self thanks you for writing this.

Please count me in! I remembered these from when I was young and then went to buy them, but could only find the first four! Yea to HC for re-issuing these! I was a big Anne fan as a kid, read all of them over and over.

Please enter me! I have not heard of these people, but they sound terrific! I loved Nancy Drew (actually the Nancy Drew Case Files--the '80's version Keene wrote) and LOVED the all Beverly Cleary books.

The Little House on the Prairie series was a a favorite, especially Farmer Boy. I also loved anything involving Greek mythology.

I was obsessed with the Anne of Green Gables Series. The books were packed in my suitcase every vacation to read on the beach. The paperbacks still sit on my shelf even though they are ready to fall apart lol. To me, Gilbert was a total dreamboat and I loved getting lost in Anne's adventures. :)

Anything to do with Laura Ingalls Wilder, and also anything to do with World War II (my most favorite title ever is Goodnight, Mr. Tom - I think I've read it at least 25 times in my lifetime). I have yet to read Betsy-Tacy books (don't know how I've missed them!) so I would love to win this boxed set. Thank you!!

These books are my most favorite books growing up. I've read them more than once. The one memory I have more than any other, though, is reading Betsy and the Great World in one day while it was raining outside in the Bronx. Could not put that book down for anything but eating that day. I think it had something like 306 or 307 pages and got it down in 6 hours! Love, love, love these books. I can't wait to start reading them to my daughter when she's a little older (she's only 3.5 right now).

I would love to win the this book set. I can't honestly remember if I ever read them as a child or not. As far as books I myself was obsessed with as a young reader, I'd have to say Nancy Drew and the Boxcar Children. Oh, and I was a HUGE Beverly Cleary fan. :)

I loved all the classic children's series - Betsy-Tacy, Little House books, and All-of-a-Kind Family. Also, anything by Lois Lenski was sure to be loved by me!

that was so fun!!
the other day i was thinking about young adult books i had really enjoyed when i was a young adult, and remembered "semester in the life of a garbage bag" - it was so great! then i thought how weird that most readers of the great late '70s-80s y-a books (the hours and hours one spent reading such things) never mention or think about them anymore - and even if they were inclined to, they are usually prevented by something embarrassing about the books (like they have some stupid title, or they're all about incest or something).
can anyone in the world compete with the american middle class for having this huge body of forgotten literature behind them? i don't think so, because they're all reading, like, jules verne and then nostalgically keeping the books in the living room, which is just where i don't keep "semester in the life of a garbage bag."
p.s. i bet in the land of alice and the pirates they just keep making the same books bigger and bigger for grown-ups to read...
